ni3 shi4 bei3jing1ren2 ma1? 你是北京人吗? Are you from Beijing? wo2 xi3huan1 shang4hai3 我喜欢上海 I like Shanghai Note: Here wo2 is orginally wo3, but changed to 2nd tone because of xi3 (a 3rd is following it). Same applies to ni2hao3 (ni3 changes to ni2 because of hao3 in the 3rd tone) xie4 xie4 谢谢。 Another good lesson to learn to say Hi in Mandarin: （Lesson One:Greeting）
